Editor’s comment: It definitely looks and feels more premium than the price you’d pay, and it’s within walking distance from Legoland Malaysia. If you’re an active family that can’t skip morning meditation or a light workout even when on holiday – then this is the best option for you. But if you don’t plan on leaving your hotel room at all during your stay, then you could choose other options on the list because we’d say the great facilities get you the best bang for your buck at Ramada.

#4 Pinetree Marina Resort (4-Star)

• We’d recommend requesting for a room with sea view
• Be sure to request for non-smoking rooms if you’re a non-smoker
• The swimming pool faces east, so you can watch the sunrise!
• You can request for cooking utensils, but additional charges may apply

Editor’s comment: Honestly, the room we booked was a little small. But to get a sauna and steam room you can use for the price, it’s a pretty good deal. The mattress was a little soft, so if you need a firm mattress best check with the staff before booking. It’s in a good location to relax after all the excitement at Legoland and you can barely hear the theme park from here compared to closer hotels – something to note for light sleepers.

#5 Millesime Hotel Johor Bahru (4-Star)

• Best no-frills option on this list
• Quad rooms have the most space, ideal for 3-4 pax
• Next to Columbia Hospital in case of emergency
• Nearby AEON Bukit Indah Mall
• Best to get a room on the upper floors to avoid noise

Editor’s comment: Yes, it’s one of the furthest from Legoland on this list BUT we included it because it’s a near AEON shopping mall and has massage and spa services in case the kids made daddy and mummy carry them back to the car after playing all day, or if you just want to unwind while the kids nap back in the hotel room. Some hiker friends might appreciate being near popular hiking spots like Sireh Park too. Staff are quite helpful with disabled guests on wheelchairs too.

#6 V8 Hotel Johor Bahru (4-Star)

Editor’s comment: If you’re on a budget and prefer the free and easy style of travel, then this might be a good option. It’s one of the cheapest hotels you’d find that’s 4-stars, and it’s quite small so you won’t have to worry about queuing for the light and such with bigger hotels. If we had to sum up this hotel in 2 words, we’d say ‘Quiet & Cozy’.

#7 Natura Hotel (3-Star)

• Located in a commercial area, so plenty of local eats within walking distance.
• 99 Speedmart is right next to the hotel for all the snacks and drinks you’d want for late night snacking.

Editor’s comment: If decor and ambiance isn’t high on your priority list, then this hotel is great for its price considering kids below 10 years old get to stay for free. It’s probably the best budget 3-star hotel with air-conditioning for their location, price and convenience with a convenience store next door and local eats nearby. In terms of vibe, we’d say it’s best for college friends who just want a place to stay while travelling to and from Legoland and access to food for the late night card game sessions.
